The only places I visited before Jamaica, were sunny Florida and rainy Vancouver (this should not even count but it is so different from the east coast of Canada that I really felt like travelling at the time). So years before I moved to Jamaica, I was the one crying, watching all my Facebook friends post their vacation pictures. Haha so believe me when I say…I never thought that I could be the one travelling. My philosophy at the time was to treat myself small every week instead of keeping all my money to do a one week vacation in the sun…and it better be sunny and it better be fun…right!?!
So how come I am now LIVING in Jamaica? Because life brings you a lot of surprises…and this became true when I met Erik. I was single for about 2 years and my favorite couple of friends were planning their wedding. They wanted me to find someone too, and kept trying to think of someone they knew that I could be matched with. The pleasures of being single…hum. BUT THEN, they talked to me about this Erik. He just had an incredible new job…in Jamaica. My reaction was…oh right, like that could be possible! We then met at the lovely couple’s wedding. Anyways, we continued to talk every night from our respective homes. He visited, we fell in love and then we had to deal with a long distance relationship (which I was so afraid of!). As I predicted, I could not deal with it, so in less than a year I sold my car, left Québec city that I absolutely loved and moved to…Jamaica. And we were happily reunited.
